Kahū The Kakariki

Welcome my new buddy Kahū . A NZ Native Kakariki bird. Named after the Māori name for Harrier Hawks and for her cool bright red mohawk (and everyone knows I like puns). Once they finish growing, she has white flight feathers and orange under her wings too. Commonly they are green, blue and red, this is one of the other color variants.

Will be training her as she grows up to be able to spend time out of the cage so you’ll see more of her over the coming years I hope. It’s been a while since I’ve kept birds but it’s one of my old hobbies I’m getting back into.
